Linda Marks "Liz" Caldwell

CALDWELL, Linda "Liz" Marks, passed away late Sunday morning after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 56. She began her studies at Collegiate Schools, graduating in 1970, and then enrolled in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Here in her hometown of Richmond, she began her career as an entertainer that would take her all over the country and even to the far reaches of Honduras and Panama for a USO tour. She soloed for the highly acclaimed Leonard Bernstein in the reprisal of Mass, this being the premier performance dedicating the newly opened Kennedy Center in Washington before going on to play at the Philadelphia Academy of Music and the Metropolitan Opera House. Around 1987, she began using her extensive experience in "the biz" by opening Uptown Talent, a casting agency that serviced everyone from singers to comedians. In 2004, she earned an Emmy Nomination for her casting work in HBO's Iron Jawed Angels. She is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth Marks Caldwell; and her three siblings, Robert, Morton III (Tracy) and Kathi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Wallerstein Marks and Morton Marks Jr. Her loving spirit will continue on in the hearts of all she has touched, both as the vivacious entertainer and, most importantly, a friend. In lieu of flowers, donations welcome for the Liz Marks Campaign to benefit daughter, Elizabeth.
